This Giving Tuesday, Wissahickon Trails is committed to making our 10.5 miles of the Green Ribbon Trail and the trails in our 9 public nature preserves accessible to more members of our community. With your support, we can complete vital improvements that will allow people to enjoy the beauty of nature more safely and confidently.
• Adding wayfinding signs and trail markers for better navigation.
• Installing informational signs at trail entrances to inform visitors of trail surfaces, grade, and obstacles, such as water crossings.
• Improving trail surfaces and adding anti-slip treads to bridges and boardwalks.
• Installing safety barriers and steps on steep sections for increased safety.
• Enhancing visibility at creek crossings with hi-vis paint strips on stepping- stones.
We believe the benefits of spending time outside should be available to as many people as possible, whether you identify as a person living with a physical or cognitive disability, or you simply need more information to feel confident, comfortable, and safe visiting our preserves. Over 80% of surveyed community members asked for the above improvements, and we heard you. Now, we need your help to make them happen.
Your donation will directly fund the many hours of work staff will put into designing and installing trail signage and markers, completing surface improvements like grading and adding gravel for better drainage, as well as installing steps and safety barriers in challenging trail sections and making creek crossings and bridges easier to see and navigate.Together, we can create a space where more people feel safe, confident, and excited to explore the outdoors.
Make a difference this Giving Tuesday! Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us move closer to our goal of making our trails more accessible
