Birding

Birders

Join us for an evening walk to witness one of the most remarkable signs of spring, the display of the American Woodcock. The walk will end by (hopefully!) watching the remarkable courtship dance and song of this secretive bird.

There are multiple Woodcock Walks that you can attend, all at Crossways Preserve. The program will be approximately 1 hour long. Sign up for the walk you would like to join through the registration links below.

After a short walk from the parking lot, we will be waiting in one area for the birds to display. Feel free to bring a portable chair to use while we wait.

Rain or high winds will cancel. Registrants will be notified 2 hours prior to the scheduled walk if cancellation is necessary.

  • Dress for the weather as this program will be outside.
  • Wear sturdy, waterproof shoes, trails may be wet and muddy
  • Bring binoculars if you have them (loaners available)
  • Bring a flashlight or headlamp for the walk out after dusk.
