“The best camera is the one you have with you” a phrase coined by Chase Jarvis when he published a book of his 2-megapixel iPhone images in 2009. Since then, phone camera technology has advanced by leaps and bounds.
Join Senior Naturalist Kristy Morley to discover and unlock the potential of the “best camera” that we all have in our pockets for nature photography. We’ll cover some basic principles of photographic composition and then dive into how to get the best photos out of whatever device you have.
We’ll spend about an hour inside learning and then explore Four Mills Nature Reserve on a photo walk where you can put some of what you’ve learned into practice.
Want to challenge yourself even further? Enter 1 (or more) of your phone photos into the 2026 Wissahickon Photo Contest by October 15th
We are happy to offer our programs at no cost to participants. If you are able, a suggested donation of $10 is greatly appreciated and helps make programs like this possible. Wissahickon Trails is a local, community-supported nonprofit funded by the generosity of individuals, foundations, and businesses. Donate online today.
