David Contosta will give an illustrated virtual talk about the mills of the Wissahickon Valley, including their role in the American industrial revolution and their importance to the early economy of the Philadelphia region. He will also touch on the ecological damage done by the mills and the reasons for their demise and final demolition by the Fairmount Park Commission. Program will be held online.
