Connected Wissahickon: 3 Mile Willow Lake to The Highlands

Join us in exploring Willow Lake Farm Preserve. This roughly 3-mile hike will take you through this unique nature preserve and showcase the trail connection to The Highlands Mansion and Gardens.

Meet and park at Willow Lake Farm, located behind the CVS on Skippack Pike. From there, we will hike around the outer loop of the preserve through forest and pasture areas and then connect to The Highlands Mansion and Gardens trail. We’ll loop back to Willow Lake exploring different trails on our return trip. We’ll end at Willow Lake Farm, where the hike begins.

At a moderate 25-30-minute/mile pace, with a break, we estimate this roughly 3-mile hike to take approx. 1.5 hours.

Accessibility Information

Elevation change: Less than 300 ft.

Trail surface: Dirt, roots, rocks and dips, mowed grass, stepping stone crossing, wooden and metal bridges, short segments of pavement, potential for mud.

Pace: roughly 25-30 MPH.

Amenities: Restrooms available inside CVS next to the trailhead. Port a pot available mid-hike.

Many sections of the route are shaded and we are also walking through open fields and meadow with no shade. | Habitat: Forest, meadow and pasture (with horses), scrub, residential.
