We're honored to share that the Four Mills Barn renovation project received a Grand Jury Award from the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia. We're grateful to our project partners--Daedalus Design Build (Alan Henderson), Kate Cowing Architect, and Elevate Construction Partnership--who made this vision a reality and to the donors who supported the renovation. There will be an awards celebration for all the honorees at Vie in Philadelphia on June 5.

This renovation focused on improving flood resilience, creating accessible public programming and staff spaces, and preserving this historic building. The Four Mills Barn is a regional landmark and significant building in our history. Built in 1891, the Barn was designed by a prominent Philadelphia architect of the Gilded Age, Horace Trumbauer, who is known for designing numerous iconic institutions such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Jefferson Medical College, Free Library of Philadelphia, Keswick Theatre and much of the campus of Duke University. Since becoming our headquarters in 1976, we have worked to keep the barn preserved and updated for the needs of the organization and community.
