**Update 3/20/23 - This event is sold out, online registration is closed.**

Join us for an evening walk to witness one of the most remarkable signs of spring, the display of the American Woodcock. The walk will end by (hopefully!) watching the remarkable courtship dance and song of this secretive bird.
To learn more about the display of the woodcocks, you can view this recorded program:
https://www.youtube.com/americanwoodcock

There are four Woodcock Walks that you can attend, all at Crossways Preserve. The program will be approximately 1 hour long.

  • March 6 at 6:00 PM
  • March 13 at 7:00 PM
  • March 20 at 7:00 PM
  • March 27 at 7:15 PM

After a short walk from the parking lot, we will be waiting in one area for the birds to display. Feel free to bring a portable chair to use while we wait. Registrants will be notified 2 hours prior to the scheduled walk if postponement is necessary.

  • Dress for the weather as this program will be outside
  • Wear sturdy, waterproof shoes, trails may be wet and muddy
  • Bring binoculars if you have them (loaners available)
  • Bring a flashlight or headlamp for the walk out after dusk

We are happy to offer our programs at no cost to participants, but if you are able, a $10 suggested donation would be greatly appreciated. Wissahickon Trails is a local, community-supported nonprofit. Our budget depends entirely on the generosity of our supporters—individuals, foundations, and corporations.  Donate online today
