Tuesday, July 14 at 08:00 am

David Freed Photographer B) 2016i

This teacher professional development program offers educators a unique, hands-on opportunity to engage directly with the scientific process of bird banding. Throughout this immersive field experience, teachers develop a comprehensive understanding of bird migration, behavioral ecology, and biological data collection methodologies by working alongside naturalists from Wissahickon Trails.

Beyond the fieldwork, the program intentionally bridges the gap between field research and classroom instruction by equipping educators with the pedagogical tools necessary to integrate authentic bird banding datasets into their lesson plans.

By bringing these real-world data points into the classroom, teachers can effectively foster genuine science inquiry, promote environmental conservation awareness, and significantly enhance critical thinking skills among their students, ultimately transforming traditional life science education into an engaging, analytical exercise.

This program is designed for K-12 classroom teachers. Fee - $50
