Birding

Mike Fernandez/Auduboni

Let’s Go Birding Together intentionally welcomes the LGBTQ+ community to come learn about birds and birding. Everyone deserves to spend time in nature without fear for their safety or wondering if they will be welcome into a group. Started in 2016 by the National Audubon Society, Let’s Go Birding Together birding walks allow everyone to experience the joys of nature in a safe, affirming, and inclusive space.

Wissahickon Trails is pleased to offer this bird walk at Willow Lake Farm in partnership with Wyncote Audubon Society. The walk will be led by Kristy Morley, Senior Naturalist at Wissahickon Trails and her wife Barb Williams.

All experience levels are welcome, from those who are brand-new to birding and want to learn more to those who have been birding for years.

All ages are also welcome, from elders to youth.

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or parental figure.

Things to know:

  • The walk will take place at Willow Lake Farm on natural grass trails and cover approximately 1 mile in distance.
  • There are no restrooms or benches at the preserve.
  • Some of the trails may be muddy, so chose footwear appropriately.
  • Tick protection is recommended (tuck pants into socks and use a DEET or Picaridin containing spray).
  • Bring water and binoculars (loaner binoculars are available).

We are happy to offer this program at no cost to participants, but if you are able, a $10 suggested donation would be greatly appreciated. Wissahickon Trails is a local, community-supported nonprofit. Our budget depends entirely on the generosity of our supporters—individuals, foundations, and corporations.  Donate online today.
