The City Nature Challenge event scheduled for Friday, April 25 at Willow Lake Farm has been cancelled. However, Wissahickon Trails encourages everyone to participate independently by exploring local biodiversity and sharing their observations on iNaturalist.

Help us document the biodiversity at Willow Lake Farm using iNaturalist. City Nature Challenge is a global celebration of biodiversity in and around urban areas. Over 2.4 million observations and over 65,000 species were identified by 83,500 participants in 2024.

We will work to document as many trees, plants, animals and insects we can find at Willow Lake.

Participants should bring an electronic device with iNaturalist downloaded and a fee account already set-up or a camera

Dress for the weather. Be prepared for muddy and wet trails.

For those unfamiliar with iNaturalist, see this video on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjlWTDR_tSA

Accessibility Information

Participants will need to walk approximately 1 mile along an uneven natural trail. Participants will need to take photographs from a variety of levels, and should be prepared to go slightly off trail as well. Restrooms are not available.
