Name that Shorebird!

Thursday, August 01 at 07:00 pm

Kristy Morleyi

Shorebirds can be a confusing group of birds to learn to identify. When faced with mudflats with thousands of brownish-gray birds, it can be challenging to know where to begin. In this program the focus will be on learning techniques you can use to identify shorebirds rather than emphasizing only key field marks for each species (although we’ll cover a few of those too!). We will focus on the species most likely to be encountered in our region as well as where and when to find them.

This program is being offered prior to the Wyncote Audubon Shorebird Trip to Bombay Hook National Wildlife:

Attendance is not required for field trip participants, but for those not as familiar with shorebird identification, it’s an opportunity to brush up on ID techniques before going to see the birds in the field.

Note: there is a separate registration for the field trip that you will need to complete if you plan on attending.

Accessibility information:

The first floor of the Four Mills Barn (where the program takes place) is wheelchair accessible and has heating/air conditioning, a water bottle refilling station, accessible all gender bathrooms, and seating available. The first floor family restroom has a private changing table and there is a nearby private area that can be used as a lactation room.
